Storyline:
The story follows Nooran (Golshifteh Farahani), a tribal woman living with her mother, who possesses the skill of healing those bitten by scorpions. Nooran learns this art from her mother (Waheeda Rahman), which involves interpreting the song of scorpions in the victim’s pulse and singing a counter song. Aadam (Irrfan Khan), a camel trader, is captivated by Nooran’s singing and beauty, but his advances are repeatedly rebuffed. Despite persistent wooing, Nooran eventually agrees to marry Aadam. However, after the wedding, she discovers that Aadam’s accomplice was responsible for raping her. Fuelled by a desire for revenge, Nooran sets out to take matters into her own hands.
Irrfan Khan’s final performance in this drama is truly remarkable. He portrays the character of Aadam with an abundance of sincerity, to the point where it becomes difficult for the audience to distinguish between the actor and the character he plays. His intense gaze speaks volumes in this film, especially in the scene where he interacts with his sister’s daughters. Golshifteh Farahani, an Iranian actress, delivers an impressive and spirited performance as Nooran. While it may be questionable why an Indian actress wasn’t cast for this role, any doubts are quickly dispelled once Farahani’s captivating performance is witnessed. Although Waheeda Rahman only appears briefly as Nooran’s mother, her performance is powerful enough to leave a lasting impression on the audience.
